Telangana employers face a mix of central and state labour obligations. With the Labour Codes in force from November 2025 and state rules still being finalised, some details are changing. This checklist covers the main obligations to review.

Registrations

  • Shops and Establishments registration for offices and commercial establishments.
  • Factory registration and licence for manufacturing units.
  • Contract Labour registration where contractors are engaged.
  • PF, ESI, Professional Tax and Labour Welfare Fund registrations.

Wages

  • Pay at least the notified minimum wages, including the variable dearness allowance revised periodically.
  • Pay wages on time, and within two working days on exit under the Code on Wages.
  • Pay statutory bonus to covered employees within eight months of the year-end.

Gratuity

  • Provide for gratuity liabilities, and pay within 30 days when due.
  • Apply the one-year eligibility rule for fixed-term employees.

Women Employees

  • Maternity benefit of 26 weeks for eligible employees, with crèche facilities above the headcount threshold.
  • An Internal Committee under the POSH Act where there are 10 or more employees, and an annual report.
  • Safeguards for women working evening or night shifts, as required under state rules.

Registers and Displays

Maintain registers of employees, wages, attendance, leave and fines, in the formats prescribed. The Codes are moving to consolidated, electronic registers; until state rules are final, keep existing registers.

Returns

File annual and periodic returns under applicable laws. Consolidated returns are expected under the Codes as portals roll out.
